Strengths-based approaches focus on the abilities of a person and building on what is already working well.
-
CBT is based on improving psychological health. The learning comes from within the person’s thinking and experience. Often there is ‘homework’ to practice and master good psychological hygiene.
-
Hypnosis is often mistaken for being out of control. On the contrary, a person is awake during a process of relaxation that results in a state where new ideas and ideas contributing to behaviour change take place.
-
EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences.
